Hot Times

It has been close to 100 degrees F the past couple of weeks here with humidity close to 100%. In other words, it has been miserable to go out for long periods of time. We got some rain last night though, so I hope that the weather is starting to get a bit better.

There hasn't really been much going one to photograph lately either. I'm looking at doing some studio / still-life work for when the weather is bad outside. The biggest issue though is lighting. I hope to have something figured out for that soon.

Anyway, keep cool out there.

There's nothing worse than hot, muggy weather. I'd much rather be out in the snow or rain than in hot humidity.

I'm sure you've seen the stick-in-a-can videos that Jim has posted on Pro Photo Life. They are rather useful. I slapped together a small handful of them. I haven't spent a lot of time with them yet, but hopefully soon.

He also mentioned the Calumet Genesis 200 kit that looks good. I'm hoping to pick one of those up when my family comes back from California.

I'll take heat. I hate the cold more than anything. But even I'm not going out in that kind of heat.

dm: Yeah, I read Jim's site everyday. He has a lot of good stuff there. The stick-in-a-can was the first thing of his that I saw. I just don't have any empty cans that would work. The problem with most of the DIY projects I've come across is that by the time I buy the materials and the tools for them, I could have gotten a light-stand and umbrella set. I do have a few ideas though, I just need to see if they are feasible. If so, then I'll have a post about how the worked out.

Chris: I hate the heat + humidity. It really is the humidity that kills you though. You can't sweat through the heat, it just makes your clothes wet. Although I was born and raised down here in South Carolina, my family is from North Dakota and Minnesota and our ancestors are Nordic. This stuff down here just isn't in our blood. Give me a nice cool Autumn day or brisk Winter anytime over this heat. Ugh. It drains every ounce of energy I have and I can only take off so many clothes before I end up in jail. ;-)

I'm in Sumter and am going to school in Rock Hill. For some reason the cold air wouldn't start going until late May at Winthrop. That was Hell.

I grew up not far from Sumter, in Hartsville. That part of the state is stuck in a no-man's weather zone. It doesn't get the coast breezes, nor does it get the systems coming up the mountains. Dead, still air.

Chris, I just realized you are Waffles from dPS. Hey there!
